Hedgehogs galore!!!

So my sister tells me, "Gus is getting too big for his hat.  He needs a new one."  So what do I do? Immediately start searching for an adorable pattern on Ravelry on my way to the yarn store.  I ended up finding the cutest pattern (Hedgehog Hat by Elise Cohen), and mostly followed the pattern until the end.  I'm very pleased with the outcome, and so is my sister. I'm pretty sure Gus likes it too.

So not to outdo myself or anything, but I did have some leftover yarn from the hat, so what better than some matching mittens?

I went with an I-cord to hold the mittens together, since (like many babies) he has a hard time keeping socks, and I didn't want the mittens to get separated or lost.

It took a tester to get the size right, and what I ended up with is probably on the big side for a 6 month old, but he'll grow.  I forgot to get a picture of the final product... too excited to give them to him, but I'll work on getting one now that he could potentially wear them.

Back in time....

These are some patterns I made long ago, and want a new place to post them.  The PDF viewing site I used is no longer free.  Without further ado, the yarn projects of yesteryears!

Not-a-purse Purse

I'm not really a purse gal per se, but I do love my over the shoulder messenger bags.  I'm pretty much in love with most of the Green Pepper patterns, and have wanted to try out making this bag for a long time.  when I found some printed neoprene I decided to bite the bullet and buy it.  (Wheels started turning for a made-by-me computer bag...coming soon...)  So this is my practice round making the small, purse-sized bag...and since I tend to just do my own thing and start cutting and sewing, this was my practice following the pattern.    Some leftover cordura and webbing and just a bit of nylon for lining and, voilĂ !  Bag extrordinaire!

The verdict:  I love Green Pepper patterns, and this bag. I'm thinking a sweet patch would look nice on the flap, though.

Inside: fits my small notebook, wallet, camera, small nalgene and still has space left over.  Perfect.

Front has a few pouches and a zipper pocket that gets covered up by the flap.

The Amazing and Wonderful Blog

It's ALIVE!!!

...or not, but it is brand new.  Here goes the start of the collection of things I've created that I think others may enjoy as well.  Hopefully there will be enough direction so that someone reading this can make their own version of one of my creations.  I would be a terrible business person- I give away my creations for free.

Here's to beginnings!
